Water main repairs are taking place this morning on Smith Road in the Nappan area to install new permanent parts on a recent temporary fix.
Water service will be interrupted for civic addresses 1-581 and this repair work will be completed as soon as possible today.

Amherst Police Department
An Amherst male has been arrested and charged with impaired driving following an complaint to Police concerning a male operating an E-Bike without a helmet who appeared to be impaired.
On June 23rd, 2025 at approximately 6:55pm, an off-duty APD member observed a male operating an E-Bike without a helmet and who appeared to be weaving back and forth on the road in front of vehicles, causing several vehicles to pull to the side. The officer approached the male who exhibited signs of intoxication. The off-duty officer interceded and removed the male from the bike and Police were called. The male was arrested and returned to the Police Station where breath tests were completed and the subject failed.

Victoria Street East will be closed between Havelock and Lawrence Streets, and Church Street will be closed at King Street on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. for Amherst's annual Canada Day celebrations.

Attention Amherst Residents with Tuesday, Week 1 collection! Please take note of garbage, recycling, and organics pick-up changes for the Canada Day holiday.
Tuesday, July 1 collection will take place on Saturday, June 28.
Please place materials are curbside by 7:00 a.m. to ensure collection.

Town of Amherst public works crews have completed repairs and water service has been restored to customers in the Albion Street area who were affected by this morning's water main break.

Water service will be impacted for customers along South Albion Street from Clinton Street to the area of KFC.
This is an emergency water main break. Repair work is underway, and estimated time to finish is several hours.
Another notice will be issued when repairs are complete and water service is restored.
