Happy Holidays
Amherst Town Hall will close at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, December 23, 2025 and will remain closed until January 5, 2026 at 8:30 a.m.
The Amherst Stadium will close at noon on December 24, re-opening on December 27 - closed again on New Year's Day.
Fire and Police services will operate as usual over the holidays.

New Year's Eve Events

Ring In the New Year at the Amherst Stadium on December 31, 2025!
Start your afternoon with a Ramblers hockey game (ticketed event) at 2 pm. Note: There will be no public skating after the Ramblers game on New Year's Eve.
A free hot chocolate social will start at 5:00 pm in the Amherst Stadium parking lot.
Everyone must exit the Stadium parking lot by 5:40 pm for fireworks to start at 6:00 pm.
Fireworks viewing area is Church Street (closed to traffic).
There will be street closures, the stadium parking lot will be closed, and there will be no on-street parking near the stadium, so plan ahead.
December 31, 2025
- 12:00 pm – No street parking – Church, Wellington and Senator
- 2:00 pm – Ramblers game (ticketed event) – there will be no public skating after the Ramblers game
- 2:30 pm – Amherst Stadium parking lot closed – no additional vehicles can enter
- 4:30 pm – All vehicles must leave Amherst Stadium parking lot
- 5:00 pm – Church Street closed between Wellington and Townshend – Amherst Stadium parking lot remains closed, no street parking on Church, Wellington and Senator
- 5:00 pm – Hot chocolate social at Amherst Stadium
- 5:40 pm – Everyone exists Stadium parking lot, moves to Church Street viewing area
- 6:00 pm – Fireworks at Amherst Stadium

Emergency watermain repair - Summit Avenue

Public Works is completing an emergency water main repair on Summit Avenue. Customers may experience service interruptions during this time.
Service will be fully restored as soon as possible.
Traffic in the area of this repair work is restricted, and drivers should expect delays.

Town of Amherst Public Works is currently on Victor Avenue making an emergency water main repair.
Customers in the area may experience service interruptions. Drivers are advised barricades are in place around the work area - please plan an alternate route.

Public Works Garage and Stadium Closed December 19, 2025

The Town of Amherst Public Works Garage and the Amherst Stadium will be closed to the public on Friday, December 19, 2025.
This closure will be from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. and will allow staff to attend the funeral of long-time Town of Amherst employee Stephen Colborne - Colby.

Downtown Snow Clearing Tonight

Town of Amherst Public Works will be doing a snow clean-up downtown tonight - Thursday, December 4, 2025 - from 10 p.m. to 3 a.m. on Victoria Street and Church Street.
Traffic control will be in place. Drivers are advised to plan an alternate route to avoid any delays in these areas.

2:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. at 28 Church Street
- Church Street closed between Prince Arthur and Victoria Streets, 12:00 noon - 5:00 p.m.
- No parking on Church Street between Albion and Victoria, 12:00 noon - 8 p.m.
- No parking on Victoria Street between Church and Acadia, 12:00 noon - 8 p.m.
Annual Christmas Parade
Starts 6:00 p.m. at Town Square Mall, 147 S. Albion Street
- Barricades at Church and Albion Streets, 6:00 p.m. until end of parade (8 p.m.)
- Barricades at Church and Victoria Streets, 6:00 p.m. until end of parade (8 p.m.)
- Other streets will be temporarily closed during parade to prevent traffic merging into parade route
