Founded in 2012 by owner and operator Darrin Embree, Waycool has grown from a small operation into a full-service team offering heat pumps, geothermal, solar installations, spray foam insulation, and commercial refrigeration. Their new Amherst office, located at 106C East Victoria Street, marks an exciting milestone, giving customers a convenient place to stop in, ask questions, book services, and explore energy-efficiency upgrades.

During our visit, members of the Waycool team (Shelley Forrest, Terri Leigh, Darrin Embree, and Steve Bauer) shared how passionate they are about supporting homeowners, not only through installation and service, but also by helping people understand available grants and navigating provincial programs. They emphasized that many residents are still unaware that they may qualify for heat-pump rebates.

Waycool has expanded to a staff of more than 10 people, with specialized crews dedicated to specific services. Their team-based approach ensures that each project is priced accurately by sending the right technician for each component of the job.

With a strong focus on customer service, Waycool offers annual maintenance—including a current $99 heat-pump cleaning promotion and aims to be a long-term, community-rooted provider. The business is also giving back through local initiatives such as food-bank donations and expressed excitement about collaborating further with community organizations.

“Over the past 13 years, the community has supported us, and we look forward to continuing to grow with Amherst.” The team shared.
