What's Up Rec?

There are plenty of ways to keep active this fall

There’s coolness in the air and fall is starting to set in, but don’t let that stop you from being active in all our outdoor recreational spaces. All parks, trails and tennis courts remain open. Please note our washrooms are open daily from dawn to dusk.

The Amherst Stadium is full steam ahead, and here’s a friendly reminder about the Helmet Policy. The Town of Amherst is committed to the safety of all individuals and groups using the Amherst Stadium. Therefore, for the protection and safety of the public, the wearing of a Canadian Standard Association (CSA) approved protective ice helmet is mandatory. We look forward to working with you to ensure safety is our No. 1 priority.

Public skating will start Oct. 1, so be sure to follow us on Facebook or check out our stadium schedule to see the times.

Help keep parks and stadium clean

Who likes garbage?  No one!!!

Please help us keep our parks and trails clean by picking up after yourselves, and if you see some garbage strewn about, Santaplease lend a hand in keeping our green spaces clean by putting it in the many garbage cans available in our parks.

Now that a new season is upon us at the Amherst Stadium, we strongly encourage you to put your garbage in the garbage bins provided when you leave your seat. We are known for having one of the cleanest facilities in the province, and we want to uphold that title.

Christmas Parade

Let’s talk about the big fella in the big red suit. Christmas is just around the corner and that means it is time to get ready for our Christmas Parade.

This year’s parade will take place on Saturday, Nov. 16, at 6 p.m.  This year’s theme will be decided very soon.  If you have any questions regarding the Christmas Parade please email us at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..

Don’t forget the popular Tree for Boston event being held on Sunday, Nov. 17.  A tradition like no other, we’re the final stop in Maritimes before the tree lands in Boston.  Mark it in your calendars.
