May 18: Culture, Events & Marketing Coordinator

Hi everyone, my name is Jennifer Bickerton and I am the new Culture, Events & Marketing Coordinator for the Town of Amherst. I was born and raised in Amherst and love where I live. I feel very privileged to be working for my hometown. Some of the things I have and will be working on in my position will be organizing our Town Events. I have been meeting and collaborating with other organizations to help plan and promote all the great activities and culture Amherst has to offer. If you are an organization out there planning an upcoming event, please give me a call, I would love to sit and chat with you to see how we can work together.

Please feel free to reach out to me if you have any suggestions on what you would like to see or do or have a great idea you want to share.

It will be a very busy summer with all of the fun filled activities we are so fortunate to be able to enjoy here in Amherst. I have been reaching out and meeting lots of new faces coordinating our plans for the upcoming Celebrate Canada in Amherst 2018!

Once the busy summer winds down, the fall will bring my focus to our Town of Amherst Seniors Strategy. I will be helping to implement our action plan in coordination with Nova Scotia’s Positive Aging Goals, to bring awareness, change and have Amherst be the best Age-friendly community it can be.

We are working hard to get our facilities up and running! Robb Complex is now in full swing as well as our Lions Park and Church St tennis courts. They are already getting great use from residents and visitors alike. You may have also seen our “A” crew out and around helping with our annual spring clean up.

We are also still carrying out routine spring maintenance on our walking trails and walking tracks to repair washouts and winter damage and ask that you bare with us during this time.
