We are fast approaching the end of the summer, but the fun has not stopped yet!
The Youth Track and Field Meet happened at the Rotary Park on the July 30, with great success! More then 10 youth showed up and developed their running, throwing and jumping skills in addition to having tons of fun.
Christmas in July took place on the 27th. This was a perfect time for members of the community to get a head start on their holiday shopping, with sidewalk sales all over town. We even held a snow dance at Victoria Square. This was followed by the showing of Iron Man 3. It was great to see everyone out and participating.
Our Active Family Fun activity tonight is Circus night at Dickey Park, lots of fun acrobatics, dancing and much more. Save the date!
As part of our Active Family Fun program, we will be hosting a family picnic on Aug. 7 with the help of Maggie’s Place at Dickey Park. This evening will run a bit different as it will start at 5:30 p.m. instead of the usual 6 p.m.-7:30 p.m. So, be sure to write it down to remember for later.
Please note the Amherst Stadium will be closed to the public from Aug. 5 to Aug. 25 as repairs, maintenance, painting and ice-making occurs. Thank you for your co-operation.
Do not forget to give our crews and summer students a honk and a wave when you see them out and about! They are working to keep our community clean and they make sure all our facilities are ready to be used by the public. You can help them by remembering to clean up any garbage and leave the facilities and parks ready to be used by the next people.
Let’s make sure that anyone visiting Amherst this summer #seeswhyweloveit!
